At DextroMedical, we believe that great documentation is great patient care. As an Inpatient CDI Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in transforming how hospitals document the care they provide. This position facilitates accurate, specific, and complete clinical documentation through proactive collaboration with physicians, case managers, coding professionals, and quality teams. Your insight will not only improve revenue integrity but also directly impact patient outcomes, quality ratings, and hospital compliance.

6:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST
1 flex day weekly
Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medicine, or a related clinical field
Required Certification: CCS, CCDS, or ACDIS/AHIMA certification
Preferred: Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Clinical Informatics, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of inpatient CDI experience in an acute care setting.
Exposure to MS-DRG/APR-DRG systems, coding guidelines, and CDI metrics.
About the Company
Perform concurrent reviews of inpatient medical records to identify documentation opportunities that impact SOI, ROM, and DRG accuracy.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with providers, educating them on documentation best practices using real-time feedback and post-discharge analysis.
Maintain a daily query rate target of 25% with evidence-based clarification requests aligned to AHA, Coding Clinic, and CMS guidelines.
Work collaboratively with HIM, coding teams, and utilization management to close documentation gaps before final billing.
To demonstrate program impact, monitor and report clinical, quality, and financial metrics using Epic, Excel, and our proprietary platforms.
Serve as a documentation expert across assigned patient populations—ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Educate interdepartmental teams (nursing, case management, ancillary services) to embed CDI principles into daily workflows.
Promote a culture of compliance, quality, and professional accountability across every case reviewed.
